The Building Of A Professional
Looking WebSite |
|
I developed this page in an effort
to give you some insight into the
process for the building of a
professional looking website and why your costs
to build a custom website design can skyrocket if you
are unable or unwilling to develop
your own website content. We will
gladly do your research and copy for
you, but remember that you are the
expert in the field and who knows
your business better than you!
The client
BeamofBarrie.com was in need of
a site to showcase his retail
location. He wanted us to do the
website development and
content for the site |
|
The Client's Needs |
|
The client was looking for an
informational website on his
products with the following
requirements:
-
Contact page needed to have a
map
-
He wanted to offer a discount
for internet users so he could
track how many inquiries he was
receiving from the internet
-
The client did not supply any
form of photos etc to use on the
site. All photos were researched
by KISS
|
|
What The Client Supplied To KISS
-
A number of brochures on his
products
-
The url of his suppliers main
pages
-
The client surfed a number of
sites until he found a colour
scheme he liked
-
The client researched his domain
name and came up with a name he
believed most beneficial for his
business
|
|
The Planning & Building Of The Web
Site |
|
The following is a brief summary of
the process involved in getting this
site online
-
Kiss proceeded to register the
domain with
IPOWER The client
chose the password he would like
to use and the security
question. This would be changed
once the site is live so Kiss
would no longer have access to
his web hosting account
-
Kiss proceeded to draw up a plan
of the pages we thought were
important to have on the site
-
Kiss
proceeded to generate a
Keyword Excel File based on
the main keywords supplied by
the client
-
We then proceeded to spend days
surfing and researching his
products. We reviewed sites from
across Canada, United States,
United Kingdom and Europe. We
were looking for what his fellow
franchisees were using to
promote the products and the
information etc. that his
competition was making available
on the net.
-
The outcome was a total of
nearly 35 rough draft pages that
now needed to be complied,
re-written into approximately 10
pages for the site. (We ended up
with 11 pages which included a
Contact page and Links page)
-
The pages were reviewed for
Search Engine optimization based
on structure and keyword content
for each page
-
The client reviewed the site and
we made the necessary changes to
the pages.
-
The site was upload to the
client's hosting account and was
now "live"
-
An xml site map for the robots
(Google & Yahoo in particular)
was generated and uploaded. This
map was also submitted to
Ask.com
-
Client registered with Google
and
Yahoo for site verification
and submission of the xml
sitemap.
-
A robots.txt file for the search
engines was generated and
uploaded to the site. This file
contained his link to his xml
sitemap
-
We manually submitted the site
to a number of top rated search
engines (the only ones that
count actually) -
Ask,
MSN,
Google and
Yahoo
